Parallels Secure Workspace Technical Professional training:

The training consists of four modules and is designed for IT administrators, pre-sales experts, or architects who want to learn how to set up and manage Parallels Secure Workspace.

We assume that participants already have some practical knowledge of things like IT infrastructure vitalization, public cloud services, Microsoft core infrastructure (such as Active Directory and Remote Desktop Services) and basic security concepts.

The four modules are:

  1. Introduction to Parallels Secure Workspace: Participants will begin by gaining a comprehensive understanding of what Parallels Secure Workspace is, its purpose, and the use cases it covers. These include “work from anywhere”, “bring your own device” (BYOD), and secure contractor access. We also will talk about some reference customers and how they solved their challenges with Parallels Secure Workspace.
  2. Full demo of the end-user functionality and the admin capabilities: This segment focuses on-user experience of Parallels Secure Workspace for both admins and end users. Trainees start with a step-by-step demonstration of how end users interact with the software, its user-friendly interface, and key features they can utilize. These include session sharing, multi-monitor support, screen recording, context awareness, and more. After going through all end user capabilities, the session continues with the administrative aspects of Parallels Secure Workspace. Trainees will learn about the tools and capabilities administrators use to manage and secure the workspace effectively, such as the dashboard, system settings, and API interface.
  3. Architecture and prerequisites: Trainees will receive an in-depth overview of the architecture of Parallels Secure Workspace. This includes a breakdown of its components, server infrastructure, and network requirements. Understanding the architecture is crucial for effective deployment and management. Once the architecture is clear, we will discuss the practical aspects of integrating Parallels Secure Workspace into an existing network and Windows backend environment. We also cover the necessary IT infrastructure, firewall/network settings, and dependencies on things like Microsoft Active Directory and Remote Desktop Services.
  4. Full Setup of Parallels Secure Workspace Software: The final phase of the training will guide participants through the step-by-step process of setting up the Parallels Secure Workspace software from scratch. Trainees will get hands-on experience in deploying the software, configuring security settings, and ensuring it meets organizational needs.

Skills Gained:

  1. How to set up, support, and deploy Parallels Secure Workspace.
  2. Examples of good use cases for Parallels Secure Workspace.

Benefits:

After completion of this training, participants should be able to earn the Parallels Secure Workspace Technical Professional Certification.

Parallels Secure Workspace Technical Professional Advanced training: SSO and API modules

In this series of advanced trainings, participants will delve into some specific topics linked to Parallels Secure Workspace. Completion of the Parallels Secure Workspace Fundamentals training is mandatory prior to enrolling in either the Single Sign-On (SSO) or API advanced training modules. This foundational knowledge ensures participants have a strong understanding of the core concepts and architecture of Parallels Secure Workspace.

Single Sign On

In this training, we explain how to federate Parallels Secure Workspace with an external Identity Provider such as Azure AD. By doing so, users can login to Parallels Secure Workspace without having to provide any passwords and fully rely on the authentication and authorization capabilities of the external IDP.

We start with explaining how SAML/OIDC works and what different schemas PSW supports. Next, we demonstrate how to create the full configuration based on some sample configurations. This happens in two parts.

The first part covers how to set up Parallels Secure Workspace as an application in the IDP. Then we cover how to set up and configure the Windows backend to work with certificates (as opposed to passwords). As working with certificates often requires significant attention detail, we also spend some time on troubleshooting SSO issues in this session.

API

In this training, we explain how to use the Parallels Secure Workspace API to automate certain tasks. Participants in this training should have at least some experience with scripting, preferably with PowerShell.

We start by explaining what the API looks like, how to get an overview of all its capabilities, and how to authenticate the API. Once these things are clear, we will go over seven sample scripts that show how the API can be used to automate certain tasks. These API sample scripts will show trainees how to perform certain tasks, like interacting with the auditing logs or creating extra labels.

Benefits:

After completion of these training modules, participants should be able to earn the Parallels Secure Workspace Technical Professional Advanced Certification.
