El Prat de Llobregat is a municipality in the province of Barcelona with a population of 65,000 inhabitants. The staff of the city council consists of 800 people. Like most of the city councils, the one of el Prat de Llobregat had to implement new systems to cope with the need to telework due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

When the Municipality presented this need to their IT partner Indigo, Awingu was one of the candidates for the proof of concept. Since the municipality wanted to meet all the requirements proposed by the Government, they did various tests and the other solutions were gradually discarded, leaving Awingu, in which they saw numerous advantages. In a first phase the Awingu workspace has been implemented to manage the telework of 50 of them.

Benefits

• Simplicity & ease of use: For the users within the municipality, working with Awingu is very easy as the workspace has an intuitive nature. The IT administrators are benefiting from the solution as well because it’s simple to integrate other solutions into the workspace. The fact that they could integrate with the Active Directory was an advantage for them. They were very happy with the fast implementation and roll-out.
• Digital signature: The digital signature is something they need in their day-to-day work, so to provide this to their remote workers in a secure way, was a critical point for them. Fortunately, it was possible to do it within Awingu!
• Flexibility: A very important factor for Ajuntament del Prat de Llobregat was the possibility of running the Awingu appliance on premise. This flexibility was not available with other solutions, so they are really satisfied with the adaptability of the Awingu product.
• Security & compliance: They are using the built-in MFA of Awingu, which is a huge benefit for them that they don’t have to implement another product to have this security measurement in place. Furthermore, Awingu has been the perfect gateway to keep the high levels of security and control requested by the Ajuntament, giving connection between the different entities under concession and their IT policies.
